PROJECT365

A few weeks ago I came across a very interesting article on SMASHINGMAGAZINE.COM, a challenge to design something everyday (non-work related). I decided to take on this challenge knowing that it was going to be hard at first, but it will only get easier and in the end make my design process more efficient. There is no time better than Jan. 1 to start a challenge like this, so as promised below is my first post and soon to be 364 other posts. It was suggested in the post to create a theme for your design, so I decided to design a logo everyday based on that day, whether it is something I felt or saw, it could be anything. Everyday I will post a new logo and a short write up behind the design. I would love to hear your feedback via FACEBOOK or TWITTER. Check back everyday for a new logo post!

DAY 7 (Jan. 7, 2010)

This evening I saw an amazing production called "Once and For All We're Gonna Tell You Who We Are So Shut Up and Listen." It is a play by teenagers, for teenagers, with only teenage actors. They inspired today's logo.

DAY 6 (Jan. 6, 2010)

Nothing out of the ordinary happened today. My day was pretty much filled with white space, which to anyone else may seem boring, but to a designer we know how important white space is. It's nice knowing that some things are consistent throughout my day.

DAY 5 (Jan. 5, 2010)

I woke up not feeling so well and it was just one of those blah days. And if I had to pick colors based on the way I felt they would be all greys and blues, but instead I choose very vibrant colors and bold shapes to represent health and happiness to come once the cold has passed.

DAY 4 (Jan. 4, 2010)

Jan. 4 is the day that everyone dreads going back to work after a nice long vacation. I decided to go in early today and I ended up getting a lot of work done. That is why today's logo is a fun take on "The Early Bird Gets the Worm."

DAY 3 (Jan. 3, 2010)

Everyday on my walk home I pass Five Corners Liquors, and everyday I think to myself, their logo or lack there of is horrible. So, I decided with my 20 minutes of design time today to re-design their logo.

DAY 2 (Jan. 2, 2010)

Today has been one of the coldest days so far, and what is better on a cold day then Mac & Cheese! I actually found today a little more difficult when it came time to design. I think the best advice I can give in this process only 2 days in is don't try to prepare for what you are going to do.

DAY 1 (Jan. 1, 2010)

Because I decided to take on this challenege before today it became something I consistently thought about. I didn't know what I was going to design, I was starting to stress out about it (before even starting!). I forced myself not to think about it, and when it came time to design, it was a stress relief. I was able to sit down and think about my day and put on paper my thoughts, feelings and ideas. This logo is pretty self-explanitory, but I decided to use tally marks because Jan. 1 is a day of countdowns.
